Raya Haji 2014

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha! Maf zahir batin!

"Many are excited about the sacrifice. But how many are prepared to "sacrifice" their bad habits for the Pleasure of the Almighty? That is when we will truly deserve to celebrate."
- Mufti Ismail Menk

May I summarize my Raya Haji with this photo collage?

  1. 03/10/2014 (Friday) - What is Raya without tapai? (at least to our family. Hehe!) So, 2 days before Raya, the Mother & I formed a team to make 2kg of tapai. Gotong-royong bantu-membantu kekdahnya although my task was wiping the daun getah & cutting off lebihan daun di hujung itu semata-mata
  2. We started around 9:15 pm & about an hour later, 186 tapai were ready to be fermented. Best served cold & some people prefer to have them with vanilla ice-cream. Urban sangat makan dengan ice-cream. Nasib baik tak makan dengan sos cili or sos tiram
  3. A.H's family celebrated Raya Puasa & Haji at his maternal grandmother's house at Wakaf Bharu this year. Since I have no other kampung but Kota Bharu, maka tumpang excited A.H balik kampung dengan me-busykan diri download Waze to look how bad the traffics were along the journey. The journey from Wangsa Maju - K.Bharu took them about 9 hours & tu pun sebab lalu jalan Terengganu. Would have taken them longer if balik ikut jalan Gua Musang
  4. 04/10/2014 (Saturday) - My nephew, Umar was admitted to Hospital Pakar Perdana a day before Raya as he had a high fever but he didn't look sick at all, ayte?
  5. A.H came & visited Umar right after he arrived in K.Bharu. Told Umar that Uncle A.H will come & inject his bambam as a punishment for being so naughty but that little guy didn't makan saman at all -.-' Umar was discharged pada pagi Raya
  6. Not a big fan of sushi but had been craving for them lately & eating Edamame beans is a must. Kunun-kununnya nak eat healthy & green sebelum makan 100kg daging pada hari Raya nanti
  7. 05/10/2014, 10 Zulhijjah 1435 (Sunday) - Selamat Hari Raya Haji!
  8. The Raya Haji outfit. The only new piece was the skirt, the rest was recycled
  9. We had 3 cows sacrificed near the house, followed by acara potong-memotong & masak-memasak with the relatives. Sempat dukung 10 month-old anak sepupu, Ammar who didn't look happy. Shall I blame the weather or Ammar tak suka kitteww?
  10. A.H came with his family (his Ayah is in Mekah performing the Hajj) that night. We (or rather the Mother The Great Cook. Ahem!) cooked ketam masak merah, ayam kicap, sup daging & mee goreng to feast 9 of them (including his nenek, aunt, uncles & cousins) & it was so satisfying to watch them makan bertambah-tambah.  The joy of making our guests happy :) (P/s: A.H had 3 plates of nasi & 2 plates of mee goreng. That guy surely knew how to appreciate food!)

Today is the 3rd day of Raya & life is resumed as usual. Sigh! Wish I can have more cuti tapi apakan daya, kita hanyalah seorang kuli

Again, Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha, everyone! Please forgive any of my mistake & hopefully you had a blessed & happy Raya Haji as well!
