A Cheap DIY Wall Decor Project

Assalamualaikum & hallo! Ramadhan kareem day 5!

My room at the Firm I'm working at now is definitely bigger than the one I had at the previous Firm. I always wanted my own room with a big window glass where I can get enough supply of sunshine/sunlight & I can see the clear blue sky. Oh, and also with calming view!

As always, Allah swt ArRahman ArRahim has always been so generous & He has answered my duas. Albeit without no sight of big trees except the home landscape rumah Dato' across the road depan office still, this is way better than being stuck in a narrow room without no view kan? Alhamdulillah. I love the natural sunlight so much that I purposely don't switch on the light in my room. I mean who needs the bulb light when I can get to enjoy the natural light foc like this

02/06/2016

And as usual, I'll constantly keep changing the arrangement of things around me, be it the arrangement of the furniture in the bedroom or the bendo-bendo cerotek aka the decor on my table at the office. Nak buat major furniture arrangement at the office macam melampau sangat kan dah la separated dengan bilik boss by a glass window jah kehkehkeh but sis buat la sedaya yang termampu.

12/04/2016. Day 7 at the new Firm.

02/06/2016

If you haven't noticed, the wall is yellow & grey painted. Hence, the reason why I've been trying to be minimal as possible with the decor sebab this is yellow dude. Yellow + white = yes, but yellow + pink = non non!

Anyhow, after about 2 months & a half, I think I can't stand any longer seeing the wall is left untouched & undecorated. Ingat nak bawak Ikea wall mirror yang kerawang-kerawang tu that I have one at home but macam over sangat kan tetibe nak drill dinding office bagai.

So, I opted for this cheap DIY wall decor project which involved:
  • A4 paper
  • Printable images downloaded from chicfetti
  • Black sellotape
  • Scissors
  • And a bit of creativity + passion. Gitteww!

09/06/2015. The incomplete cheap DIY wall decor project

A bit senget la sellotape tu & kertas pun dah kerenyuk-kerenyuk here & there hmmmmm but senget & kerenyuk-kerenyuk are a kind of art alright? It's nothing much pun actually but ok lah daripada tak ada. Been planning to add another one with ALLAH MUHAMMAD or BISMILLAH or AYATUL KURSI but I haven't found the nicest downloadable & free one(s) online

Sekian. Ramadhan kareem once again & may Allah swt accept our deeds & ibadah. Amin ya rabbal alamin

DIY Wall Deco For Abam Umar

Assalamualaikum & hello!

As my Sister is currently berpantang at my Parents' house (which is also mine. Lols!), it means that my nephew, Umar is also staying with us! WoohoO! (Don't worry Maryam. Mama Sue love you too but as for now, you just sleep all day long)

If you're following my Instagram, you should have realized that I'm soooooooooooooo obsessed with Umar that I posted photos of him almost everyday. I may be biased because he's my nephew but just look at him! Don't you think he's one cute & adorable little gentleman? (except when he's throwing tantrums. O M G!)

21/11/2015, KB MALL
An outing with A.H & Umar; my 2 favourite boys

I've so much love for this boy that I didn't even have the heart to scold him (I even didn't even think about it honestly) when his diapers (notes the plural) burst & the carpet & comforter pun basahlahhh. Makan & minum banyak sangat Abam Umar ni sampai diapers pun bocor -.-'

Umar's now at the stage where he has his own favourite things & quite obsessed with them. His current favourites are the animal figurines which I bought recently in KL. I wonder what his day would be like if I hide them away. Adakah akan moody the whole day lantas menyebabkan semua orang berasa susah hati & juga panas hati? Lols!

As he's now staying with us 24/7 until my Sister finishes her pantang, we've tried our best to make him feel at home. Actually Umar memang suka tinggal rumah Tok Abah & Tok Ma pun. But did you get what I'm trying to say here? Maknanya we've tried to provide him with anything that will make him more occupied. Maklumlah dengan kehadiran adik baru yang juga will be his new sidekick soon, we utterly don't want him to be left out

I doubt that he did ever feel so. Melimpah ruah kasih sayang mungkin?

Anyway, I always wanted to give the white wall near his 'study table' which is also next to our bedroom door, a makeover. I bought 2 colourful kids' posters last weeks but later on decided that they were too boring for my liking. Searched for diy wall deco on Google 3 days ago before going to the bed & found some things that caught my interest. Showed them to A.H dengan harapan he would do it for me but harapan hanya tinggal impian as he's busy. Lols! Nevermind!

I finally had time to get my hands 'dirty' yesterday evening after returning home from work. Took me about 3 hours & a half to get it done, with some interruptions from Umar in between

Here is the before & after result

This is indeed a cheap & easy diy project which won't cause you much & most importantly, tak mencomotkan lantai. Like mine, I only used black sellotapes (I prefer the ones yang orang guna untuk balut wire elektrik as its adhesive glue tu tak melekat dekat gunting sangat), a pair of scissors, a wild imagination & a lot of love!

Here is a better view of my diy wall deco

I name it as Bandar 'Asal Bolehjaya', in conjunction with my asal boleh idea. Lols! I didn't refer to any photo for reference, I just followed my heart & imagination. Gitteww! Bab toys berselerak di dalam bakul itu, I think moms with active toddlers/kids totally can relate. Hehe!

I uploaded 2 photos above on my Fb & Instagram last night & received a lot of 'Likes' & +ve comments from my friends. Auwww! I'm flattered!

My next project probably will be decorating the white wall in our bedroom. I haven't asked A.H's consent yet sebenarnya. Cane kalau A.H tak suka dengan hasil kerja kita nanti & kemudiannya mogok tido luar?

Oh lupa nak cite Umar's reaction

Can't really tell whether he likes it or not. Should I take his actions of ajak-ing me watching his favourite Youtube videos & tumpang menyibuk once in a while while I was busy beraksi with sellotapes & scissors as a sign of his approval?

Window Shopping aka Berangan

Assalamualaikum & hi!

As blogged previously, A.H & his family are now preparing to move to their new house soon (after the renovation complete which be probably in the middle of June, InsyaAllah) which means .... I get to survey furniture & stuff for A.H & I's own territory i.e the bedroom! WoohOo!

A.H knows my taste so well & he's so kind to let me be his personal ID for our bedroom. Well, as if he has any other choice :P But still, shopping for furniture is so much fun! I've been visiting & spending so much time at the IKEA website lately, adding one thing after another to my cart as if I'm physically at the IKEA Damansara store. Hehe!

For the record, these are a few things that I've been eyeing at (with my personal Minister of Finance's approval, of course). Tepek sini dulu, so senang nak refer next time

BED FRAME
I'm always a big fan of white kerawang bed frame as it has this timeless girlish. So, when I saw this kind of bed frame (not difficult to guess that it's from IKEA) at some random pictures at Tumblr or Instagram, my inner girlish side screameddddd with delight!

I was in doubt on its sturdiness at first tapi bila dah try duduk atas tu during our visits to Ikea, macam ok je

BEDSIDE TABLES
A.H wants side tables with drawer(s), so that we can keep things inside while me, I want something pretty but practical which means, simple & can easily be moved around. So, senang nanti nak rearrange furniture dalam bilik even when A.H isn't around. Hehe!

LINDVED is also pretty but it doesn't have any drawer & macam senang je tumbang. Imagine having kid(s) as active as my 19 month-old nephew, Umar. Pheww!

TABLE LAMPS
These might not be necessary but I always like my bedroom lit by table lamp(s) as it gives the room a more calming vibe

WARDROBES
A.H wants customized wardrobes where there's a vanity/dresser in between (so thoughtful of my Husband to include one of my favourite things in his plan. Hehe!). Something like this but not exactly like this. You get the idea?

But me, on the other hand, like something simple mainly because we'll rarely spend our days there as A.H will be moving to K.Bharu soon, InsyaAllah. Since, barang pun tak banyak kat sana, I don't think we need to spend so much money on big wardrobes kan?

So, my personal picks are these;

VANITY/DRESSER
A.H & I agreed to not have a proper vanity/dresser for our new bedroom. Instead, we'll just have a multipurpose table which can function as both vanity/dresser & work table. We also plan to put a flat TV on the wall just above the table to replace a mirror & have a long mirror instead put on the other side of the wall. That's the initial plan but rasa macam tak cantik pulak buat macam tu. We'll see how it goes la nanti

IKEA doesn't actually offer many dressers in its catalog but these 2 caught my eyes

HEMNES

Tak pun, we just pair MALM dresser with this mirror. I have one like this in my bedroom at home
MIRROR
Beside bed & wardrobes, wall mirror is also important in every bedroom. Apalah ertinya kehidupan seorang wanita tanpa kehadiran cermin di sisi

My no. 1 pick is the first one on the left, UNG DRILL which really reminds me to the magic mirror used by Snow White's cruel step mother. Kan? Ke mirror dia dihiasi oleh tengkorak & tulang-temulang? Whatevesss. But still, it looks pretty to me. EKNE pun ok jugak, simpler than UNG DRILL

LONG MIRROR
Do you still need long mirror when you already have oval wall mirror, mirror di dalam washroom, mirror di dalam compact powder, serta mirror yang lain? Oh yes, why not? :P

These 2 are my favourite ones

I more prefer EKNE anyway as it can also be hung horizontally above the vanity while BRIMNES is more suitable to be placed in washroom, I think

RUGS
I know we can cheaper rugs with better quality than IKEA rugs. Nak-nak kalau beli kedai orang Pakistan kan? But I like these kinds of rugs

Ohoi! Seronoknya window shopping sambil dikelilingi oleh kerja-kerja ofis yang bertimbun -.-' Ok lah, nak sambung buat kerja. Bai Bye!

Rajing La Pulok

Assalamualaikum & hi!

It's already 4th day of May! MasyaAllah, where have all those 4 months gone? So far, I've nothing major to expect this month except that A.H will be coming here this 14th until 17th, InsyaAllah & we plan to go jalan-jalan. Tapi tu pun kalau beliau dapat cuti lah. If not, ... T_T Told him I'll mogok if his Boss won't approve his cuti. Still thinking what kind of mogok I'll do. Lols!

Anyhow, spent my 3 days of weekends with attending 2 kenduris & doing some room makeover on Friday evening sekembalinya dari kenduri. Terlampau rajin pulak kita hari tu

01/05/2015

Moved the bed to other side of the wall (unfortunately, jauh sikit dari AC), the vanity next to the window so nampak sikitlah nk teropong jejerawat & finally a perfect space to put my birthday present from A.H last January (which I put my precious handbags inside). Was trying to move the wardrobe too tapi ambitious gile betui la nak move sorang-sorang kan? It wasn't moved even an inch!

The new arrangement made the room looked more spacious than the previous arrangement especially tempat nak solat depan vanity tu. Boleh lah solat berjemaah tanpa bimbang lagi akan terlanggar bucu katil. Lols!

Anyway, after a long Friday evening of rearranging, sweeping & sweating, I then realized that the bed was actually facing the kiblat which is not a good thing in Islam. Aduyai, lupa T_T So on Saturday morning, after having sebungkus nasi kerabu ayam madu as breakfast & 2 ketul Beryl's dark chocolate, I began rearranging the furniture with so much gusto, all by myself. Moved the bed near to the AC (and it no longer faced the Kiblat) & the vanity to other side of the wall. Ruang solat masih luas, so major love there

Judging from the amount of sweat I had, it's safe to say that I don't need to exercise anymore until June. Lols! #over

Of course the bedroom still lacks a few things such as study table, wall frame(s), wall mirror, thicker curtain, more handbags *coughs* etc but A.H & I are going to work on that soon. InsyaAllah

Thinking of having a major room makeover soon. Like, so so so major! Maybe I need to change the wall paint from white to any soothing earth colour

Or to something brighter & bolder?

Fefeeling Deko-deko

Assalamualaikum & hi everyone!

As a girl (who spent 5 years away at the girls' boarding school), I always wanted a bright & white bedroom all to myself. A girl can always dream although in reality all I had was a pink wall bedroom which I had to share it with my Sister (before she got married)

My Sister & I are 5 years apart & we have different tastes almost in anything (except that we're good at spending. Ma kata ni ikut trait beliau. Lols!) which actually & eventually led to the clash of tastes in our bedroom decoration. When I was still in the phase of teddy bears & whatnot, she was already all crazy about Backstreet Boys. When I developed a tepuk sebelah tangan love with Mark Westlife (he's gay unfortunately. Gah!), she was already at the uni & acting so cool with all the grown-ups stuff

But Allah swt is very fair. He definitely knows when I'm actually ready for whatever I wanted. I don't think 10-year old Suria would really know how to appreciate a bright & white bedroom. Plus, she definitely had no money to buy anything back then :P

Currently, I really enjoy decorating my bright & white bedroom. I rearrange things once in a while mostly because I can't stand seeing things untouched for so long & partly because my 17 month-old nephew, Umar loves coming to my bedroom & usik things. Almost had a mini heart-attack whenever I caught him red-handed playing with my fragile decorations. Anddddd, even my bling-bling bed lamp pun dah rosak Umar usik

Mama Sue is pasrah ke hadrat Ilahi T_T

01/03/2015

1. 'A Gift for Muslim Bride', a book given by my dear friend Intan & Ira as the wedding gift. Purposely put it on display so that I'll be reminded to read it & just because the cover is pretty!

2. The bling-bling bed lamp which now serves as hiasan semata-mata T_T I removed it from my bedroom a few days ago sebab Umar suka sangat pergi usik

3. The white frame bought from Daiso with our Wedding's official logo

4. A mini Eiffel Tower bought at Kaison

5. A wedding doorgift from my friend. It's from SSF & so pretty!

16/03/2015

1. An alarm clock bought at IKEA recently. I decided to go traditional sebab yang ni bingit bunyinya ya ampunnn & of course because it has no snooze button. Kalau lambat lagi bangun Subuh tak tahu laaa. Hehe!

2. The photo frame on the right side is a wedding gift from Mr/Mrs Unknown. Thank you! I love it very much

01/03/2015

1. The candle set from my secondary school friend, Fiqah (who was supposed to be one of my Bridesmaids tapi ada hal pulak at the very last minute. Sobs!). They gave my white bedroom a splash of vibrant colours tapi yang ni pun dah removed & masuk kotak balik sebab Umar suka amik the glasses & main-main dengan batu-batu tu T_T

2. The white tall thing at the back is a bed lamp & it actually Umar's but Mama Sue pinjam. Thanks! :P The design it so simple but it's bright enough. From Tesco if I'm not mistaken

3. The white thing on the left side is the Glade automatic spray air freshener #teamvanilla

10/03/2015

Bought the fairy lights at Penang for RM20. Rasa macam gadis-gadis sangat ada lampu gantung-gantung ni. Mid life crisis mungkin? Hehe! But A.H said they're pretty & of course Umar pun suka (Umar apa je yang tak suka. Botol shampu Johnson's & Johnson's pun dia suka)

16/03/2015

Received this bedding set from A.H's relatives as the wedding gift. Thank you! Just my kind of colour & corak. So pretty! We don't have any blanket to match the sheet yet, so terpaksa tahan daripada menggunakannya

Our bedroom is still not complete anyway. We still don't have a study table & the wall is still empty but that things can wait I guess. As you can see, no specific theme for the bedroom but I like to keep it simple. Would love to buy a few things from IKEA (like a pretty mirror with black wooden frame & of course a white study table) tetapi KL-KB bukan sekangkang kera jaraknya ya adik-adik. Nak-nak kalau travel by flight *hints to A.H*

Sekian sahaja (fefeeling) deko-deko with Kak Sue. As mentioned above, the decoration will change from time to time, depending on my mood & preference. Hehe!
