Big Black & Thick

Assalamualaikum & selamat pagi kawan-kawan!

I've been wearing glasses since I was 14 & contact lenses when I was 17. Both have their own pros & cons but I definitely prefer the latter. I rarely went out with my glasses on except during the days where my laziness was overloaded & the 'Mehhh! Biarlah comot pong!' principle prevailed

The last time I changed my glasses was a year ago with 350 power of eye sight for both eyes. So, 350 + 350 = 700. I'm probably one of the uncool people who will go for comfort instead of style & fashion. I prefer mine with big black & thick frames, macam nenek-nenek tak apa asalkan pemandangan nampak luasss saujana mata memandang

My current pair of glasses;

My Armani Exchange glasses which only costed me around RM200. So cheap ayte? Penghabisan stok barangkali
 .
The day I collected my glasses. So excited that I forced my Sister to take this picture in Noodle Station :))

Tapi biasalah, bila umur makin bertambah, nikmat pun Allah tarik sikit-sikit supaya kita ingat akan mati. Nothing in this world is permanent dikkk except Allah The Almighty.

I always remind myself over & over again to not take things for granted. Sesal dahulu pendapatan, sesal kemudian tiada gunanya

Apakah? T_T

Power mata & silau rasa macam dah bertambah sebab dah start rasa pening-pening & bila menghazab mengadap desktop & laptop screen lama-lama, pedih mataku. Adakah ini mungkin juga pembawakan baby? Tumpang alahan Kakak saya yang hamil itu. Bahahah!

Akhir kalam, I think it's time for a new pair of glasses. Kena isi borang subsidi dari Tuan Haji Muhammad & Puan Hajjah Rahimah nampaknya. Semoga diluluskan. Hadiah belated birthday katanya

Kalau tukar pakai yang macam ni, ok dak?

Untuk Adik-adik Yang Minat Belajar Law

Assalamualaikum & hello loves!

Result SPM/STPM dah nak keluar ke? The youngest is me. Ahemm!

I do realize that this blog has been visited frequently by adik-adik who are seeking for some information about reading law, specifically in UiTM. If you have anything to ask, jangan malu jangan segan to ask me anything at suria.muhammad@gmail.com. It will be such a great honour for me to help you

Tapi my opinion might be biased la a bit.

Kalau terrer English lagi la, it's like an added bonus. 4 tahun reading law tu kacang je la. Dean List anytime je, babe. Boleh melawa & glamer donning in black & white. Boleh speaking English all the time walaupun pronunciation, vocabulary etc tak betul mana. Untung badan, tengok-tengok boleh jadi another Yuna & Fahrin Ahmad. Lols!

Kids, if you think that way, then you're totally wrong

If you think reading law could save you & make your brain at ease from learning those perplexing math formulas & science facts, then you better think again. I know, every uni has its own marking standard but the point is, it's not as easy as you think. And kalau belajar law kat UiTM, ada subjek Solicitor's Account & Conveyancing which means 'Hallo Calculator! It's been a while!'

My table in normal days during LL.B Part 2

And this was taken during one of the busy weekends where we had to come & finish our works. See my Senior Partner, Yana berkerut-kerut dahi. Hehe!

I know some people who are very good in English, lived abroad for a few years tapi tak perform juga dalam exam. I know some people who come from average family {like moi} but managed to have outstanding results. Maknanya, tanya pada hati "Do I really want to do this?" & please jangan ikut kawan just because he/she applies juga, maka saya pun bolehhh!

I believe every course has its own level of difficulty, so does reading law. It has its own art of making the law students suffer to the core. It gives you the ability to digest the whole semester syllabuses & pages of complicated cases in a few days or hours before the test/exam. It makes you understand why lawyers/law students are the ones who tend to break the rules. It often gives you minor heart attack thinking about the high mountain workloads, datelines & tests, all coming towards you in one shot. Nightmares about exam/test, happened to me countless of time!

When you're in LL.B programme in UiTM {I don't know about other unis), this kind of workload is utterly normal & it happened almost every week. I purposely printscreen-ed this which was posted by my Office Manager (or class leader) at our class' Fb page & set it as my laptop wallpaper, so that I know that I really didn't have time to goyang kaki the whole week

My Advanced Civil Procedure II paper which I sat in June 2012. It was almost impossible to answer all the questions within 3 hour, hence caca merba. And kalau ada anyone yang spot wrong answer written, paham-paham je la *coughs*

Now, thinking about the keluh kesah I had at Law School makes me want to laugh & I bet, my other friends & other law graduates would probably think the same. Definitely, reading & practicing law are two different things. Ahhh, I miss those stressful days of not having enough sleep, staying up at the class/office till 2-3 a.m & waking up in the morning looking like a zombie
.

 My class/office at Level 5
I was so lucky that my classmates are a bunch of fun people. I miss them :')

Mock Trial for Civil Trial & Advocacy (CTA); one of the most stressful subjects during LL.B
Kerja tak pernah habis & banyak pulak tu. Gering

My firmmates looking so serious before the CTA class. Hehe!

Of course reading law means you need to read a lot of books, articles & cases, memorize a lot of facts & cases, able to think critically & fast, able to write as fast as you can within 3 hours of test/exam with a lot of cases & authorities to support you argument & able to handle stress too. Tak bagus English boleh belajar {at least Band 4 MUET}, tapi yang penting minat, usaha & of course some natural talent in debating & gusto of wanting to win. Self-confidence harus lah ada juga

My official LL.B (Hons) convocation picture, 28 November 2012
Bila ntah nak sambung entry pasal convocation. Basi sudahh

I had fun reading law & those 3 sems of Pre Degree Law + 3 years of Bachelor of Legal Studies (Hons) + 1 year of LL.B (Hons) are one of the most memorable chapters of my life. I can't imagine being in other profession walaupun selepas SPM dahulu ada apply & attend interview MARA Scholarship for TESL. Imagine if I succeeded the interview, went to study abroad & jadi English teacher. Apalah nasib anak-anak didikku dapat teacher macam ni? -.-' Surely, Allah knows best

So, adik-adik, ask yourself whether you really like/want/determine to read law & have what it takes. Kalau tak sure jugak, jangan lupa guna talian hayat dengan Allah i.e Solat Istikarah. And if dah sure, all the best to you! May you ace along the way to become a lawyer. Amin & InsyaAllah.

Anyway, you can refer to my entries on;

Of Orange Themed Majlis Bertandang

Assalamualaikum & hello, loves! Apa khabar?

Attended another kenduri yesterday which was the kenduri bertandang of the BIL's cousin, Nik Azuan & his spouse, Ainul Farah at Jalan Sri Cemerlang, K.Bharu

Before going to the kenduri, I had to come to the office in the morning as we're expecting our client to come & sign the S&P agreement. Turned out later that they had a little doubt on their loan application & decided that it's best if they don't sign it yet. Macam tak berbaloi datang office, waited for them for an hour & a half & balik macam tu je. Client is always right but masak la kalau ada ramai clients macam ni. Tsk! And nasib baik tempat kenduri just a min drive from my office

A reminder to myself in the future; jangan lah nak susah-susahkan orang bila deal hal-hal macam ni. It's a win-win situation; tolonglah tolong-menolong sesama kita

Anyway, terubat hatiku dapat pergi kenduri. Terima kasih kenduri & orang-orang yang awesome

The theme was orange, so I orange-ized  myself

I initially wanted to wear a pair of my orange baju kurung but I didn't know where it's hiding. Hence, wearing my Sister's old baju kebarung. I paired it with a checkered orange, yellow & white shawl which I bought at the weekly bazaar at Dataran Cendekia, UiTM S.Alam, a Charles & Keith handbag {it desperately needs a friend}, a Casio watch given by the Father in 2008 & my favourite Vincci shoes

Lupa & tak sempat nak amik gambar pelamin but this will do. Love the white bed & dressing table

Yours truly & Anis Amni, the BIL's cousin

The perks of being the youngest in Nik clan. Kesian Mayya asyik kena gomoi. Hihi!

Mayya: What's going on, mann?
Check out her pipi & Hello Kitty leggings!

Mayya didn't care a bit. Hisap jari lagi sedap katanya

As CNY is drawing nearer, it means more kenduri updates to come! I need to start planning for my outfit as some of the kenduris require us to don in certain colours & supaya tidak gelabah di kemudian hari, seperti hari ini

How I love witnessing the reunion of halal love between 2 souls. May Allah bless their marriage & semoga bercinta hingga ke syurga. Amin & InsyaAllah :)

'Hai, Sorang Je Ke?'

I've to admit that once upon a time ago when I was younger, I did enjoy receiving attention from men, tak kiralah kawan-kawan or strangers. Lumrah wanita, sukakan perhatian. It boosted my self-confidence & made me think 'Ok, so I'm not that comot/hideous etc', 'Comel juga la aku ni. Hihi!' etc.

Jahilnya daku dahulu kala. MasyaAllah. Forgive me, ya Allah. Huhu!

Tipulah kalau saya cakap saya tak pernah teringin nak jadi cantik-cantik macam hijabester & fashionista yang pakai baju cantik & tudung berfesyen-fesyen tu. Tapi sebenarnya bila pakai macam tu, it attracts the opposite sex, defies the ultimate purpose of covering the aurat. Menutup aurat bukan sekadar bertudung, area lain pun kena jaga. Nama lagi menutup aurat, bukan membalut aurat kan?

But women aren't for public display, loves. We aren't a mannequin, the soul-less thing men can poke & toy with. We were created with purposes, thus it's our duty & amanah to preserve our honour & dignity. The least appealing we are in the eyes of men, the better we are in pleasing Allah

Tak apalah kalau tak ikut aliran fesyen terkini pun, tak di 'fewitt-fewiitt' di jalanan pun, masih dengan fesyen sama dari sekolah until sekarang, muka pucat lesi bagaikan kanvas tanpa lukisan warna-warni, asalkan Allah suka & redha. Amin & InsyaAllah

I'm not saying I'm perfect because everybody knows that I'm not. This is a reminder untuk diri sendiri juga. Ayuh kawan-kawan!

Ikan Bakar Astana

Assalamualaikum & jumaah mubarak, loves! We're already on the 1st February, MasyaAllah how fast time flied!

We had a family dinner slash my birthday treat at Ikan Bakar Astana, Lebuhraya Jalan Pasir-Mas Salor, Kota Bharu on Tuesday night last week. Tqvm to the Sister for paying the bill, kenyang perut suka hati kami semua. Alhamdulillah :D

It was me & my Parents' first time there obviously despite its location which is just about 15 - 20 minute drive from home. So, jakun a bit lah

Instead of having the privilege to choose the eating place like any birthday girl/boy would do, my Sister had a final say on this. I miss eating at Keng Som but there's always next time, alright? And being a pregnant woman my Sister is, she always came out with lame excuse like "But it's the baby who wants it!" lately

-.-'  Anything for you, future niece/nephew. Mama Sue sanggup tolerate

I'm not a fan of fish but I must say this place is good. Too good that we had to order 2 extra plates of nasi & finished them all. My Father even had to excuse himself after the makan-makan to the nearby bamboo hut behind our tables because according to him, he could barely breathe. So'oh terlajuk orang Kelantan kata. Lols!

We arrived there before Isya' & since it was weekday, the place wasn't as full as it was during weekend. Kalau weekend, memang full house that it's advisable to come after Maghrib. And yes, it isn't like a fancy restaurant with air-conditions & all, it's situated next to paddy field which means angin semulajadi sepoi-sepoi bahasa. i.e no fans & air-conditions needed yet nyaman :)

Ma petite famille plus the Bro-in-Law who was busy choosing the fish

Wearing the jubah that my Mother bought from Mekah, the Swatch watch from UK which was a birthday present from an old friend & the 3 tone shawl which I bought at Dataran Cendekia, UiTM Shah Alam. Rindunya shopping-shopping kat DC! :((

One of the best teh tarik I've ever tasted *hands down* It was my Mother's btw

And after waiting for about 15-20 minutes or probably less, the ikans & sotong finally arrived! Woots! And the BIL sempat lagi buat lawak "Jangan makan lagi, Sue nak ambik gambar". Bahahaha!

Nampak sikit but banyak & sangat kenyang, Cukuplah untuk 5 orang makan. Alhamdulillah

We had siakap, bawal emas & sotong. Would really love to include prawns as well tapi ditentang hebat oleh Abah. Kata beliau "Nak makan udang ke? Kat muka tu?" Tsk! T_T

The food was good that I had to top up the nasi. Heeee! Kedai ni memang serve bakar-bakar je such as siakap, kerapu, bawal emas & seafood (udang, ketam, lala etc) with menu berempah like rempah Astana, asam jawa, nyonya & manggo. The Sister said its teh tarik is so sodap, so don't forget to try it too

Nah the direction for those who're interested;

1.  If you're from Wakaf Che Yeh, drive straight until you see the traffic lights yang ada New Horizon Restaurant on your right & Perodua Show Room on your left
2. Turn right to Highway Jalan Pasir Mas-Salor where you will see the newly built Terminal Makanan Negara (Teman) Bangunan Audit, Balai Bomba, Mahkamah Syariah along the way
3. Drive straight until you're at the traffic lights, drive terussss sampai la you see the Ikan Bakar Astana on your right. There's a Caltex pump station after the restaurant

And for more info about the restaurant, you can contact Mr Nik Alwi (010 9161638) or click here & here. Yes, you're welcome ;)
